Doctor and Her Staff
Lynn Z. Tucker, M.D.
Dr. Tucker established the Cosmetic Dermatology Clinic in 1985, making it a unique site for the delivery of dermatological care. Since its inception, the clinic has been on the cutting edge for both medical and cosmetic dermatologic conditions. My expertise in skin care has evolved through the years.
Education is an ongoing process in medicine. LSU is my alma mater for my B.S. and M.D. After doing a rotating internship in Shreveport’s Confederate Memorial, I spent two years as a contract physician for the Air Force in Everett, Washington. Then, I returned to New Orleans to do my Dermatology residency with the LSU service at Charity Hospital. Moving to Baton Rouge in 1972, I opened my private practice in Zachary, La. Due to the death of my husband, I closed my practice and worked part-time at the LSU Health Clinic.
Since opening the Cosmetic Dermatolgy Clinic, I have been very active in organized medicine, serving on the executive committee and president of the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society [first female president]. I also served on the Board of Governors for Louisiana State Medical Society. It has been my pleasure over the years to participate in skin cancer screenings for the community, do TV interviews on various topics pertaining to the skin, be a mentor for family practice residents and write articles on skin wellness. Giving back to the State and community that I love brings me much pleasure.
To be a good physician, I believe a person needs to be well rounded. Family, religion, organizations and hobbies define us. I have two sons, Eric and Alex. Both are married. Eric, is an attorney, living in Dallas with his two children, Holden and Caitlin. Alex is a CPA here in Baton Rouge,`and he has two sons, Christian and Hayes. Golfing, gardening, saltwater fishing and cooking are my main hobbies. I belong to the First Presbyterian Church and enjoy enriching my biblical knowledge. Outreach into the community and the world is a theme my Sunrise Rotary Club encourages. To better understand the needs of our State, I was privileged to participate in CABL's Louisiana leadership class of 2009. Having economical healthcare is a primary issue for all. We must all work together to bring about personal responsibility for maintaining wellness.
I have memberships in the following organizations: Life member of the American Academy of Dermatology; American Society of Dermatologic Surgery; Louisiana Dermatology Society; Masters in Dermatology; Louisiana State Medical Society; and Capital Area Medical Society.
